This peptide corresponds to host derived pro-NPY sequence with a cathepsin cleavage site. Host proteases, such as cathepsin L are involved in the processing and biosynthesis of neuropeptides including pro-NPY. In viral propagation, cathepsin mediated cleavage of viral proteins is necessary for cell entry, thereby affecting the host protein derived pro-NPY. The peptide is labeled with QXL®520 and 5-FAM as FRET pair and thus can serve as a substrate for investigation enzyme cleavage.
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) functions as a peptide neurotransmitter and as a neuroendocrine hormone. The active NPY peptide is generated in secretory vesicles by proteolytic processing of pro-NPY
